Jamal Daniel was a major contributor to the endowment created by the Arab American Education Foundation for the purpose of establishing a chair of Arab Studies within the History Department of Rice University. Dr. Ussama Makdisi, a leading expert on modern Arab history, has held this chair since 1997.
